I was assaulted by the owner of the Sound Exchange at 557 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, on January 25 at about 11:30 in the morning. I was simply browsing and asking questions about Burton's display on the wall. I did not instigate anything. He demanded that I leave the store and literally threw me out and then followed me outside and shoved me in the street! I was going to call 911 but his wife dragged him back in the store. He had his fists up, ready to fight! I spoke to his son later Jeff before going to the cops who said he was not surprised and that I had done nothing wrong, but changed his tune the next day when I went to see him. He accused me of breaking something and denying anything had happened? omg, like father, like son! I wish now I had gone to the Police and filed I complaint, I still might. This is a warning to others if you decide to shop there. The place is a mess. It looks like hoarders live there, just my view. The son said his dad is recovering from a stroke but that's no excuse to assault customers for asking questions! omg - The owner's name is Tom Bishop! I was the only one in the store. Don't shop alone there if you can help it. TIME TO RETIRE.

I haven't checked in here since before Christmas. I've been ... out of sync ... with everything. Driving ... when I was a little girl, I'd sit in the front seat between Mom and Dad and I'd say, "one of you tell us a story." Those stories were of their childhoods in rural Minnesota during the depression years and harrowing days of WWII. Either Mom or Dad would do the "telling" and they made the events come to life in my imagination. Maybe that's why I have so loved your blogs about your early days in Winnipeg.

Tell us a story, Burton ....

Hi Burton,
This does not have to be posted.
First , hope you had a great Birthday, and have a Great New Year!
This is a question, and request to repeat the dream of a child,... well...., ok big kid with his child.
When you are finished the concert in Tarry Town, I was wondering if there is any form of meet and greet session.
I had the thrill and honor to meet you, with my sister, after the Norfolk Fair concert.
That night we drove from Oshawa Ontario to Norfolk and back to get to work for the next morning.
This time we are driving to Tarry Town, and will also have my daughter with me and I would love for her to have the thrill
that I had in Norfolk. There are 6 of us altogether. All huge fans. (Maybe 9 to make the trip)
We have some great pictures to share with you, thanks to you being so great during the time you shared with us in Norfolk.
Hopefully I will have the cards, and lyrics mounted and framed to show you.(Large pictures, the cards stay mounted to the wall)
They are simply a priceless addition to my collection.
Thank you.
God Bless,
Health and Happiness always.

Burton,
They say the sense of smell has the strongest ties to memory as with the burning wood, but for me it has always been sound or specifically music. Your words and music have stood the test of time. The older compositions still sound as fresh and relevant as the first time I heard them. I've thoroughly enjoyed your crestions for 40+(signs) years. Some will alter my mood, others enhance. I have been listening exclusively to your albums fro several weeks in anticipation of your tour. I have tickets for both of the New York venues. I'm bringing friends who know your music, some who should and a current student of music. I check your facebook page periodically, which never ceases to intrigue me with history and beauty-GOD SPEED MOTHER NATURE. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of 47 poems, your Blog being a taste of things to come. Everything you write is demonstrative of your passion, candor, sincerity and soulful essence. I am certain I will continue to relish your future work. My only disappointment is never having the opportunity to comminicate with you directly, a Renaissance Man of the 21st century.
With Fondest Regards, Laurie

I enjoyed reading this, BLC. It seems that you remember so much more about your childhood days than I remember about mine. Maybe you had happier days to remember.....not that my childhood days were not happy. I hope you had a great 64th birthday, and I wish you a very Happy 2012. My new year resolution for 2012 is to see you in concert. Take care.

You said it right, Burton. Bang! It seems like the 60's were yesterday. And what's weird is that there are so many rich memories, but it still seems like yesterday. Well, I suppose all those who have gone before us have said the same thing..........
Carry on!!

My choice would be superlative. Merriam-Webster defines superlative with the following synonyms:

"Synonyms: A-OK, A1, awesome, bang-up, banner, beautiful, blue-chip, blue-ribbon, boffo, bonny (also bonnie) [chiefly British], boss [slang], brag, brave, bully, bumper, capital, choice, classic, cool [slang], corking, crackerjack, cracking, dandy, divine, dope [slang], down [slang], dynamite, fab, fabulous, famous, fantabulous [slang], fantastic, fine, first-class, first-rate, first-string, five-star, four-star, frontline, gangbusters (also gangbuster), gilt-edged (or gilt-edge), gone [slang], grand, great, groovy, heavenly, high-class, hot, hype [slang], immense, jim-dandy, keen, lovely, marvelous (or marvellous), mean, neat, nifty, noble, number one (also No. 1), numero uno, out-of-sight [slang], par excellence, peachy, peachy keen, phat [slang], prime, primo [slang], prize, prizewinning, quality, radical [slang], righteous [slang], sensational, slick, splendid, stellar, sterling, superb, superior, excellent, supernal, swell, terrific, tip-top, top, top-flight, top-notch, top-of-the-line, topping [chiefly British], top-shelf, unsurpassed, wizard [chiefly British], wonderful"

A long way to go to make a point...my point being that for one who has achieved what you have achieved over all these years and still walk out onto a stage to ovations, still leave the stage with even greater ovations and still sound better than ever before you are surely due the distinction of superlative, if not best. Of course 'remarkable' still ranks as my most-often used reference to the man and his music.
